This tour is recommended for travelers visiting Tanzania from late May to late June/early July when the great migration is in the western corridor. Apart from the great migration, you will also have opportunity to see the big 5 and other exciting wildlife. The night safari in Tarangire gives you unique chance to see nocturnal animals that are hardly seen in day light.

Day by Day

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to The African Tulip

Depending on your time of arrival, we will pick you up at Kilimanjaro Airport and transfer you to Arusha for dinner and overnight at The African Tulip hotel.

Day 2: Tarangire National Park

After breakfast you will drive to Tarangire Safari Lodge for lunch. Then depart for afternoon game drive in Tarangire National Park. This park has the largest concentration of elephants, often seen bathing in the Tarangire river, lots of giraffes, monkeys, impalas and many birds. It is also one of the best places to see lions, leopards and lions. You will then drive back to Tarangire safari lodge for dinner. After dinner you will depart for 2 hours of night game drive with special vehicles designed for night safari, to look for nocturnal animals that are hardly seen in day light (like aardvark, bush babies, porcupines and others. Cats also tend to be more active at night). You will then return to Tarangire safari lodge for overnight.

Day 3: Lake Manyara National Park

After breakfast you will drive to Mtowambu for a village guided village walk. In this small but busy town where people from all the 120 tribes in Tanzania live together you will have opportunity to interact with the local community and learn about their daily life. You will visit a local school, traditional beer factory/bars, banana and rice fields and a traditional family home. You will then continue to Manyara wildlife camp for lunch. In the afternoon you will do game drive in Manyara national park. This park has the largest concentration of monkeys. You will also see giraffes, hippos, elephants and other animals. Dinner and overnight will be at Manyara wildlife camp.

Day 4: Serengeti National Park (Western)

After breakfast you will depart with picnic lunch and drive to Serengeti national park. On the way you will stop at a Maasai village to learn a something about these traditional people and get opportunity to take their picture. Upon you arrival in Serengeti national park, you will have your picnic lunch then continue with game drive towards Mbalageti lodge for dinner and overnight. In this area you will have high chances to see the great migration (estimated to reach 3,000,000 animals now) crossing the Grumeti River while the crocodiles in the river try to attack them. All meals and overnight will be at Mbalageti lodge.

Day 5: Serengeti National park (Western)

You will do a full day of game drives in Western Serengeti exploring the great migration. All meals and overnight will be at Mbalageti lodge.

Day 6: Serengeti National Park (Central)

After breakfast you will do game drive towards Serengeti bush camp for lunch. After lunch the grandson will enjoy the swimming pool until 04:00 pm then depart for afternoon game drive. Serengeti is the park with the largest concentration of big mammals in the world and it is where you will see most of your exciting wildlife. The sightings will include prides of lions, cheetahs, leopards, elephants, giraffes, hippos and many more. Dinner and overnight will be at Serengeti bush camp.

Day 7: Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast you will drive to the Ngorongoro crater for a game drive with picnic lunch. This is the best place to see the endangered black rhino (less than 1000 black rhinos are left in the wild in the world).The crater has also many other animals like zebras, wildebeests, hippos, gazelles, hyenas and many more. In the late afternoon you will continue to Acacia farm lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 8: Departure

Drive back to Arusha for lunch, and then continue to your airport of departure. You may want to stop for shopping on the way to Arusha.

Big 5 Safaris & Zanzibar Beach Holiday

This itinerary takes you from outstanding wildlife areas to the tropical white sandy beaches of Zanzibar. Explore three famous parks in northern Tanzania, like the beautiful Ngorongoro Crater, which is home to almost 30,000 animals, including the Big 5. Or Tarangire National Park: the kingdom of elephants, birds and baobabs. Four of the Big 5 reside within this lovely park (only no rhino’s). Enjoy a village walk in Mto wa Mbu where you can see the traditional way of life of the villagers and interact with them. From the north of Tanzania you travel to the exotic island Zanzibar where you can wash off your safari dust with a dip in the Indian Ocean and enjoy laid-back beach life.

Day 1: Arrival – Arusha

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro international airport, you will be met by your driver and transferred to the Venus Hotel in Arusha. Settle into your accommodation, ready to start your safari proper in the morning. If time allows, a complimentary town tour to explore Arusha town and visit a local market can be arranged.

Day 2: Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, you drive to Tarangire National Park where your safari starts. This lovely park has the largest concentrations of elephants in the world and the highest number of breeding bird species. Especially during the dry season, Tarangire National park is packed with wildlife. Big cats like lions, cheetahs and leopards, but also the seldom seen Kudu, Oryx and Gerenuk. If you are lucky you can even spot the tree-climbing python. The Tarangire River draws huge herds of wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, as well as predators who prey upon them. Later in the afternoon you drive for dinner and overnight to Sangaiwe Tented Lodge, a peaceful setting with great views over Lake Burunge.

Day 3: Lake Manyara National Park

Today starts, after breakfast, with a walking tour in farming town Mto wa Mbu. This village is unique in Tanzania since it is home to over 120 different tribes from across Africa and forms a colourful mix of languages and customs. Your walking guide will take you to rice and banana plantations, a local beer factory, a school and a carving factory. Discover the traditional way of life of the villagers. Continue to Lake Manyara National park, which is only a few minutes’ drives from Mto wa Mbu. Lake Manyara is known for its huge soda lake filled with pink-hued flamingos, large population of baboons, incredible birdlife and breathtaking views. You can see giraffes, elephants, hippos, buffaloes, zebras, flamingos and if you are lucky you spot a tree-climbing lion.

Day 4: Ngorongoro crater

Discover today one of Africa’s Seven Natural Wonders, called the Ngorongoro Crater. It shelters close to 30.000 animals including the Big 5. The crater teems with zebras, buffaloes, lions, wildebeest, elephants, flamingos, ostriches, hippos, cheetahs and a small population of the rare black rhino. In the late afternoon you visit a traditional Maasai village to get an insight in the lifestyle of these graceful warriors. After an exhilarating day on safari, you will return to Eileen’s Trees Inn for dinner and overnight. For those who have still energy left, you can visit a night club, dance and have some drinks.

Day 5: Zanzibar beach

In the morning your driver transfers you to Arusha for lunch. After lunch you head off to Arusha airport for your flight to Zanzibar. Upon arrival at Zanzibar Airport, you will be met by your driver and transferred to Warere Beach Hotel for dinner and overnight. This hotel lies in Nungwi, a lovely fishing village in the north of Zanzibar, which offers one of the best beaches on the island.

Day 6: Zanzibar beach

Enjoy laid-back beach life on this tropical island. You can spend the entire day at the beach, since the beaches in this northern part of the island are not as tidal. The village has a nature reserve for turtles where you can feed the turtles and even swim with them. The hotel also organizes activities like a village walk, scuba diving, snorkeling, jet skiing and fishing that you can book and pay directly. All meals and overnight will be at Warere Beach Hotel.

Day 7: Stone town, Spice tour

After breakfast you drive to Stone town, where you go on a spice tour. After this you visit the lively Stone Town, which is the cultural and historical heart of Zanzibar. Stone Town is a melting pot of Arab, Persian, Indian and European cultures which makes Stone Town so unique. In the late afternoon you return to Warere beach hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 8: Departure

You will wake up and have a leisurely breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast your private driver transfers you to Zanzibar Airport for your international flight.

Day 1

Day 4: Serengeti National Park (west)

This morning you drive to the famous Serengeti National Park. On the way you will stop at a Maasai village to get an insight in the lifestyle of these graceful warriors. Upon arrival in the Serengeti, you first have a picnic lunch and then continue with a beautiful game drive. There is a big change you can see the Great Migration of wildebeest crossing the Grumeti River in this area of the Serengeti between May and July. The herds must outsmart the crocodiles and fast flowing water before facing predators waiting on the other side. An amazing spectacle. Dinner and overnight are at the beautiful Mbalageti Lodge.

Day 5: Serengeti National Park (west)

Rise up early, so that you can depart your lodge for a full day moving with the herds across the plains exploring the Great Migration. An impressive experience to see all those hoofed mammals, followed by predators, migrate in a clockwise circle every year. If you want to spot the Big Five (lion, elephant, leopard, rhino and buffalo) all in one park, the Serengeti is the places to be. Return back to Mbalageti Lodge for dinner and overnight. The views from the lodge over the Serengeti are fantastic.

Day 6Serengeti National Park (central)

After breakfast you depart for a game drive in the central part of the Serengeti. This part is famous for the abundance of lions and leopards that can usually be seen quite easily. Game viewing in this central area is spectacular all year round. Enjoy the views of endless plains and stunning wildlife like cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, hippos, ostrich, pangolin and many more. Dinner and overnight will be at Serengeti Acacia camp. This camp is the perfect blend of old African charm and elegance in the heart of Serengeti National Park.

Day 7: Ngorongoro Crater

Today you set off towards the Ngorongoro Crater for your last game drive. It shelters close to 30.000 animals including the Big Five. The crater teems with zebras, buffaloes, lions, wildebeest, baboons, elephants, flamingos, ostriches, hippos, cheetahs and also the rare black rhino. The beautiful colours and dancing clouds make the crater almost surreal. Because of its natural beauty the Ngorongoro Crater is chosen as one of Africa’s Seven Natural Wonders. Day 8: Departure

After breakfast, you drive to Arusha, arriving in time for lunch. After lunch, you will be transferred to Kilimanjaro airport for your departure flight.

Day by Day

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Venus hotel

After a long flight to Tanzania, we assume that our guests are tired. So today we will only transfer them to Venus Premier hotel in Arusha for a rest. Depending on their arrival time, guests can opt for a town tour instead of resting at the hotel

Day 2: Tarangire national park/Night safari

After breakfast depart for Tarangire, Tanzania’s third largest national park and sanctuary for an unusually large elephant population for game drive, with picnic lunch. Majestic baobab trees are an interesting feature of the park, dwarfing the animals that feed beneath them. Animals concentrate along the Tarangire River, which provides the only permanent water supply in the area. There is a great diversity of wildlife including lions, leopards, and cheetahs and up to six thousand elephant. In the afternoon you will continue to Whistling thorn camp for dinner, then depart for night game drive to look for nocturnal animals that are hardly seen in day light. Overnight will be at whistling thorn camp.

Day 3: Lake Manyara national park/Mto wa Mbu village walk

After breakfast you will drive to Mtowambu town on the floor of the Great Rift Valley, for a guided village tour. In this small but very busy town where people belonging to all 120 tribes in Tanzania live together you will have opportunity to see typical daily life of Tanzanians. Your walking guide who comes from that area will take you to rice and banana plantations where you will interact with the people working in their farms, you will visit a traditional beer bar/factory, you will visit a school and carvings factory where the famous “makonde” use ebony black wood to carve different statues. You will then continue to Lake Manyara national park for game drive with picnic lunch. In this small but very beautiful park with dense forest you will have opportunity to see lots of monkeys, giraffes, elephants, impalas, dik dik, flamingos in the lake and if you are lucky you may spot the rare tree climbing lions. In the late afternoon you will continue to Ngorongoro rhino lodge located on the rim of the crater for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Ngorongoro crater/Serengeti national park

After an early breakfast drive to Ngorongoro crater for a game drive in the crater, with picnic lunch.  Sightings in the crater include big prides of lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetah’s hippos and it is the best place to see the rare black rhino. In the late afternoon you will continue to Serengeti heritage camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Serengeti national park

Morning and afternoon game drive in Serengeti national park with early departure looking for active predators. In this park you will have opportunity to see big prides of lions, cheetahs, leopards, hyenas, giraffes, elephants, different antelopes and other wildlife all meals and overnight will be at Serengeti heritage tented camp

Day6: Serengeti national park

Depart early in the morning for early morning game drive with picnic breakfast. You will have your breakfast somewhere in the bush then continue with game drive. You will later return to the camp for lunch. After lunch you will drive to Ngorongoro for dinner and overnight at Eileen’s trees inn.

Day 7: Arusha/Departure

After breakfast drive back to Arusha for local lunch then continue for your flight back home/own arrangements
